Pharmacology

After oral administration, Norethisterone is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and remains active for approximately 24 hours. It is primarily eliminated from the body through urine.

Dosage & Administration:

Metropathia Hemorrhagic (Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding): Take one tablet three times daily for ten days. The bleeding typically stops within one to three days, followed by withdrawal bleeding resembling normal menstruation within two to four days after discontinuation.

Prophylaxis Against Recurrence of Dysfunctional Bleeding: If signs of normal ovarian function do not resume, anticipate recurrence. To establish cyclical bleeding, take one tablet twice daily from the 19th to the 26th day of the cycle.

Premenstrual Syndrome (Including Premenstrual Mastalgia): Alleviate premenstrual symptoms by taking two to three tablets daily from the 19th to the 26th day of the cycle. Treatment can be repeated for several cycles, and symptom relief often persists for months after cessation.

Postponement of Menstruation: To delay menstruation, take one tablet three times daily, starting three days before the expected onset. A normal period should occur two to three days after discontinuation.

Endometriosis (Pseudo-Pregnancy Therapy): Commence long-term treatment on the 5th day of the cycle with two tablets daily initially. Increase dosage to four or five tablets daily if spotting occurs, then revert to the initial dose once bleeding ceases. Treatment duration is typically four to six months continuously or longer if necessary.
